turn left at Route 20 intersection just
before Dagsboro -- pick a bushel and make peach pie for the
house. Several
nearby roadside stands also sell their peaches --

Assawoman Wildlife Area: south on
Route 1, take first right on West Way to Kent Ave, left on Kent,
left on Double Bridges Rd., left on Camp Barnes Rd., stay left at
the fork in the road, and look for sign on the right -- boat ramps,
tons of nature, all primitive -- home to endangered Delmarva fox
squirrel, bald eagles, peregrine falcons and all kinds of water fowl
-- created from nine farms, the area has been managed for migrating
and wintering waterfowl since 1943 --

canal connects the Indian River Bay with Little Assawoman Bay to the
south -- kayaking or boat in the shallow canal --

Burton's Island Trail: (302-227-2800) -- north on Route 1
over Indian River Inlet Bridge, then first left into State Park and
to marina -- cross causeway to reach 1.5-mile loop trail around an
undeveloped island -- woodland and marsh ecosystem, bay views, and
the occasional Indian relic -- take precautions against ticks and
mosquitoes -- entrance fee.
